Syd received the TorQuest Scholars Award, granted to a JD/MBA student based on academic excellence and demonstrated volunteer work within their community. She also received the Gerald W. Schwartz Bronze medal for the third highest cumulative average over four years.

Why were you interested in pursuing your degree?

A JD/MBA is the perfect degree to provide more insight into the interconnectedness of business and law. I’ve already seen how my background in business adds enormous value to my understanding of ‘the deal,’ enabling me to make valuable contributions. My current studies give me a strong foundation that will prove beneficial to both Davies and me in any corporate or commercial work.

Why did you choose to work with Davies?

The small size and reputation for excellence are what attracted me most. Much of my work experience has been in the start-up world, where I enjoyed the close-knit culture that small teams can foster. Having worked at a large firm in New York, I’m excited to join the Davies team and build both professional and personal relationships.

Is there a skill you would like to learn? Why?

I want to learn to speak another language. I love to travel and want the ability to communicate so I can better engage with people around the world.
