Davies Honoured at The American Lawyer’s 2015 Global Legal Awards Gala
Last night, at The American Lawyer’s 2015 Global Legal Awards gala in New York City, Davies was honoured for the firm’s role in the acquisition of Tim Hortons Inc. by Burger King Worldwide, Inc. and the creation of Restaurant Brands International, which was recognized as Global M&A Deal of the Year: Canada.
Successfully navigating complex structuring and regulatory issues, Davies acted for Burger King in the US$12.5-billion deal, which resulted in the third-largest quick-service restaurant company in the world, with approximately US$23 billion in system sales and over 18,000 restaurants in 100 countries.
The Davies team included Patricia Olasker, Steven Harris, Cam Rusaw and Alex Moore (M&A); Raj Juneja (Tax); George Addy and Charles Tingley (Antitrust/Foreign Investment); Jessica Bullock (Employee Benefits); David Wilson and Zain Rizvi (Capital Markets); and Carol Pennycook, Derek Vesey and Anthony Spadaro (Financing).
The third annual 2015 Global Legal Awards honoured firms and legal departments that played a substantial role in the world’s most distinguished international work performed between Jan 1, 2014 and April 15, 2015, across a wide range of disciplines.
