Davies Honoured as Canadian Tax Firm of the Year at ITR Americas Tax Awards 2016

Last night at the International Tax Review (ITR) Americas Tax Awards, Davies was presented with the Canadian Tax Firm of the Year award. This award recognizes Davies’ work on matters including Fortis’ transformative proposed acquisition of Michigan-based ITC Holdings Corp. for approximately US$11.3 billion, Shaw Communications’ $2.65-billion sale of Shaw Media Inc. to Corus and McKesson Corporation’s proposed $3-billion acquisition of the Rexall pharmacies. In addition, the firm was shortlisted for the Canada Tax Court Firm of the Year, the Americas M&A Tax Deal of the Year and the Americas Private Equity Tax Deal of the Year.

The annual ITR Americas Tax Awards were presented on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at The Pierre in New York City. Based on size, innovation, complexity and impact, the awards recognize transactions, planning or cases by North and South American firms and in-house teams that break new ground, set market precedents and have a cross-border element.
