Davies affiliated scholar Stephanie Ben-Ishai has been honoured with a 2019 York University Distinguished Research Professorship in recognition of her exceptional scholarly achievements and substantial impact on the field of bankruptcy law. The award was presented to Stephanie on June 21, 2019, at Osgoode Hall Law School’s spring convocation.

Widely acknowledged as one of Canada’s foremost experts in the area, Stephanie has greatly contributed to both policy debate and commercial law reform through her research, teaching and service. Her sustained record of excellence has earned her numerous accolades and visiting professorships around the world, including the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence, SSHRC and Fulbright fellowships. Stephanie is the author and co-author of seven books and over 50 articles in national and international refereed journals, as well as numerous reports commissioned by governmental and non-governmental agencies.

The York University Distinguished Research Professorship is awarded to a member of the faculty who has made an outstanding research contribution to the university. Only 25 faculty members can hold this designation at any time.
