James is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales. Before joining Davies, he practised for nearly a decade at leading international law firms in London, UK, with a focus on private investment funds.

PSP Investments

Acted for PSP Investments with the establishment of its new wholly-owned subsidiary, Canada Growth Fund Investment Management Inc., and the negotiations with the Government of Canada and Canada Development Investment Corporation in connection with the management of the newly-established $15-billion Canada Growth Fund.

ArcTern Partners Inc.

Acted for ArcTern Ventures in the formation of its third flagship fund, ArcTern Ventures Fund III, a US$335 million venture capital fund focused on climate technology companies around the world.

Golden Venture Partners

Acted for Golden Ventures in connection with the formation of its fifth fund, Golden Ventures V, a leading seed-stage venture capital fund investing across North America.

Persistence Capital Partners

Acted for Persistence Capital Partners in the formation of PCP MSP II, L.P., a $375-million continuation fund raised to support PCP’s investment in MedSpa Partners Inc., a leading acquirer and operator or medical aesthetics clinics in North America.

Sprott Inc.

Acted for Sprott Inc. in the formation of Sprott Private Resource Streaming and Royalty Annex Fund, a US$310-million annex fund that invests alongside Sprott’s first streaming fund, which brings the combined total assets under management of Sprott Resource Streaming and Royalty Corp. in both funds to US$1.1 billion.
