What are you most looking forward to during your time at Davies?
I believe that in order to be the best, you need to learn from the best. It is an extremely exciting opportunity to work at a firm like Davies, which has the highest percentage of Band 1 lawyer rankings in Canada. I'm looking forward to learning about the practical side of being a lawyer, while gaining further exposure to the law and growing as an individual. Being part of the Davies team will make coming to work every day a thrill.
What fictional character do you identify most with?
I probably identify the most with Shrek – for a number of reasons. Like Shrek, I have a lot of layers – ogres are like onions, remember? I think there is more to me than meets the eye, and people are often surprised that my personality wasn't what they expected before they met me. Second, I am a bit of a homebody, just like Shrek. Sometimes I just want to be left alone in my swamp! Lastly, I am very loyal to my friends and family. If they need me to go on an adventure and fight a dragon to save them, I'd do it!
If you could have your own talk show, who would you invite as your first guest?
I know he isn't alive anymore, but assuming we are in a realm where the impossible is possible (such as me being a talk show host), my top choice for a guest would be Nelson Mandela. I think Mandela is one of the most impressive human beings who ever walked this earth. His story is so inspirational – being able to put all the wrongs committed against himself and his people aside in order to achieve peace through reconciliation, is something that everyone can learn from. Reading his book Long Walk to Freedom completely changed my perspective about what is possible in even the most difficult and complex conflicts in the world. We still have so much we can learn from his story and legacy, and being able to meet and speak with him would be a dream come true.
